A Winter Wedding at Kersey Mill
Emma and Will’s wedding was a breath of fresh air not only because it was seriously chilly being a crisp November day! But also because these two decided to plan a wedding that directly reflected them, and instead of sticking to traditions they didn’t feel really mattered they made decisions to take out what they didn’t want, and change around other elements to put themselves at ease.
In particular they decided that they wanted to see each other before the ceremony, which brings a gasp of shock and horror to most people who still consider this to be very unlucky (where did this wives tale come from?!). For Emma and Will, this was something they wanted to do in order to get the nerves out of the way before the ceremony, and also for it to happen privately (well, almost as myself and, my assistant Gemma were there too!). With it being November and their ceremony planned for 3.30pm they also realised that had they not opted to see each other beforehand there was no chance that they would get to utilise the daylight for their couple photos and family photos as well so all of this was taken beforehand.
So we arranged a ‘first look’ Will waited my the Mill as Emma walked up the driveway to meet him, Gemma and I stood back cameras poised ready to capture the emotion of that moment and as he turned Will’s expression really was priceless. Emma completely took his breath away, and he did get really emotional (something he didn’t want to do during the ceremony!). I’m so pleased we have this moment captured for them to remember forever!
After the first look we took a few moments to explore the grounds at Kersey Mill for some couple photos before returning to their immediate families for group photos. Then it was time for Emma to hide away as the rest of their guests arrived for the ceremony.
With it also being Emma’s 30th birthday the wedding really took on a double celebration (her parents also married on her mum’s 21st birthday!). There were sparklers, conker competitions and some serious moves on the dancefloor!
